Spade cable terminal is another example of the cable terminal commonly used by installers. When the access to the screw is difficult it is very comfortable to use the KNA, KNE or KNV cable terminal. They cannot be used, however, on wires with a huge cross-section. They are designed for crimping on multi-strand Cu wires. They are made of galvanically tinned copper and they are very useful.
Spade cable terminal KNA
KNA spade terminal is produced according to DIN 46234 and it is without insulation. ERKO produces these cable terminals in sizes corresponding to the conductor cross-section from 0,5 ÷ 1 to 10 mm2.
KNA spade terminal – different sizes
|Cross-section [mm2]||For screw M||Crimping tools|
|0,5 ÷ 1||3, 4, 5, 6||PR33, A22-2, A11-6, RA16, ETA66, PP8, PP19|
|1,5 ÷ 2,5||3, 3,5, 4, 5, 6, 8|
|4 ÷ 6||4, 5, 6, 8||PR33, A11-6, RA16, ETA66, PP8, PP19|
|10||5, 6, 8||EPZC300, EPZ300, GZ300,|HR300, PRZ240, GO300,
HRZ300, GU120, HR100-U,
PR240, R50, PP19, RA16
Spade cable terminal KNE
KNE terminal is an equivalent of KNA spade terminal as it is produced according to the same standard, but KNE has a polyamide insulation in three different colours: yellow, red or blue. The manufacturer decided that the edges of folded tubular part are soldered. It is resistant to temperatures from -40°C to +125°C. The sizes are also the same as in case of KNA, however some crimping tools cannot be used because they are not made for crimping of terminals with insulation. It is not recommended to use for example: A22-2, RA16, RA16, A11-6 or ETA66.
Spade cable terminal KNV
Spade terminal KNV meets the standard of DIN 46237 and it has insulation , thanks to this solution it is more resistant to temperatures from -40°C to +125°C. It is produced in many different sizes:
- conductor cross-section 0,5 ÷ 1 mm2 for screw 3,4,5 and 6,
- conductor cross-section 1,5 ÷ 2,5 mm2 for screw 3, 3,5, 4, 5, 6 and 8,
- conductor cross-section 4 ÷ 6 mm2 for screw 4,5,6 and
Cable terminal is crimped on wires with the cross-section from 0,5 to 2,5 mm2 with the help of such crimping tools as: PR33, E11-6, RE6, PP8 and PP19.
