Cable glands are designed to attach and secure the end of a cable to the equipment. First digit in this case 6 defines protection against penetration of solid body and this is the highest scale – it is completely dust-proof. The second digit is 8 and that means degree of protection against water. In this case, eight points means that cable gland protects against long-term water immersion.
