The simplest crimping tools for crimping of cable terminals on the electrical wires are hand presses. Each cable terminal or connector produced by ERKO has a dedicated crimping tool. Sometimes one crimping tool can be used to crimp only one type of cable terminal on the wire with the given cross-section . However, there are also crimping tools that can be used to crimp different types of cable terminals, all thanks to the exchangeable dies.
Hand press

An example of a crimping tool with exchangeable dies is a universal hand press PR33. This hand press can be bought with one die or in a set of 5 dies. The dies are easily exchangeable, and the tool is very light and handy. Another example of the hand press is T10. It is designed for crimping cable end-sleeves with and without insulation with the wire cross-section from 0,5 to 10 mm2. It is also possible to use crimping pliers to crimp cable terminals for example T16S. Hand press doesn’t have to be used only for crimping wires with small cross-section. Press R50 is used for crimping cable end-sleeves on wires with the cross-section of up to 120 mm2 ( thanks to the exchangeable dies).
Hydraulic crimping tools
Hydraulic hand presses are used for medium intensive installation work. Press HR 100-U is designed for crimping most of the cable terminals on the wires with the cross-section of up to 120 mm2 and even cable end-sleeves up to 185 mm2. Another far more complicated hydraulic hand press is HR 300. It is used not only for crimping of cable terminals and connectors on wires with the cross-section of up to 300 mm2, but also for punching holes in steel band. Rotatable head makes the work for the installers very easy.
